Rules

How ranking, payments, ties, refunds, and moderation work on Overtop

The one rule that matters

Rank = cumulative amount paid. Every position on the leaderboard is determined solely by the total of confirmed payments made for that listing. Nothing else affects rank. No algorithm, no votes, no editorial picks.

How it works

  • Submit a product URL or an X handle. If it is already on the board, your payment adds to its existing total. If not, a new listing is created.
  • New listings start at a minimum of $1. Additional payments are in whole US dollars, minimum $1 per payment.
  • Your payment adds to the listing's cumulative total forever (unless it is refunded or disputed). If a listing has $40 and you add $25, its total becomes $65.

Ties

If two listings have the same total, the listing that reached that total earlier ranks higher.

Positions are not reserved

A payment adds to a listing's total. Positions are determined by cumulative confirmed payments and can change at any time — including while you are checking out. A position is not reserved until payment succeeds, and it can be overtaken immediately afterwards.

Payments and ownership

  • Paying for a listing does not grant ownership or editing rights over it. Anyone can pay to increase any listing's rank, but nobody can change another listing's destination, title, or description by paying.
  • All payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe emails you a receipt.

Refunds and disputes

  • Purchases are final except where required by law, for duplicate or erroneous charges, or a service failure on our side.
  • A refunded or lost-dispute payment reverses its ranking contribution.

Moderation

We may suspend or remove listings that are fraudulent, unlawful, infringing, deceptive, or that link to malware, phishing, or other prohibited content. Removal for a rule violation does not entitle the payer to a refund.

What this is (and is not)

Overtop sells paid advertising placement on a public leaderboard. It is deterministic: you pay, the total goes up, the rank follows. There are no prizes, no chance, no wagering, no payouts, and no redistribution of anyone's money. You must be 18 or older to pay.
